Peer and Senior Mentorship
When it comes to higher education, the unwritten curriculum is a critical factor in student progression and success. The days (and sometimes nights, too) can be long and demanding. The pursuit of mental health and/or medical careers should never be a solo undertaking. Our goal is that our scholars become a peer mentorship community for one another. Further, with so many career paths available and often complex application processes, the perspective of a senior mentor proves valuable. Thus, a minimum of two mentorship sessions with a practicing professional, one 1:1 meeting and one group session, is offered each semester.
Cash Scholarship Stipend
We believe in incentive alignment - and know that cash on hand sure is helpful at the end of the semester during the gap between finals week and the next financial aid disbursement. With this in mind, all Lotta Home Scholars in good standing with both the home (no rule infractions and consistent, timely rent payments) and their respective educational institutions (active enrollment and 3.25 minimum GPA), will receive a cash stipend of at least $1,200.00 each in December and in May, funded by our initial sponsor. Any additional sponsorship dollars obtained will be put directly toward the scholars’ stipend.
Security & Functionality
Our home is designed with our scholars’ safety and needs in mind. We have monitored security cameras, flood lighting on all four corners, individual locks for each room, and a completely enclosed side deck and back yard. Further, all applicants undergo, and must pass, a background check. Additionally, from the fully stocked kitchen to the dedicated study/huddle room, from the in-house laundry to the lovely green space, our scholars have a home where they can rest, work and play steps from the AUC campus.
Inclusive Rent + 9 Mo. Leases
Our scholars have just one monthly bill for housing, high speed internet, electric, water, garbage/recycling, twice-monthly common areas cleaning, and yard maintenance. Any issues with the home will be expeditiously addressed by our dedicated property managers. And there’s no need to worry about finding a summer sub-letter or any surcharge for a 9 month lease as that is our standard lease duration.
